In Between Style- dressing for the life you lead outside work and the gym
/Do you have two wardrobes: conservative business & workout wear?
I see this all the time with my clients. Most are busy, professional women with families and responsibilities at work and at home. Many times they actually like clothes and are interested in fashion, but the day to day is so hectic that getting dressed becomes a chore and not fun anymore.
If you work in an office where you have a dress code, you’ve probably got guidelines to follow that makes choosing your workwear easier. Maybe it’s not so creative, but you know what you need to wear.
And then you’ve got your workout wear too, right? Or you weekend, work around the house, loungewear- the super casual stuff that is comfy but also kinda sloppy.
What about the “in between” wardrobe for the life that happens in between work and workout?
It’s important to put care into how you dress for the “in between” for many different reasons:
When you like what you are wearing and feel good about your outfit, you are more confident and more productive.
Because so much of our life happens “in between”, it means even though we typically give it less thought than our work wardrobe, we actually need more clothes to dress for it. Did you know that over her lifetime the average woman spends 1 year standing in front of her closet deciding what to wear. Imagine getting that year back?
You never know who you are making an impression on and what opportunities that might create. First impressions are important and sometimes we make them our kids’ baseball games or at the grocery store.
The first step to creating your “in between” wardrobe is to conduct a mini closet cleanse.
You are just spinning your wheels if you don’t determine what your personal style is and know what you have in your closet. Skipping this step leads to more time wasted in front of your closet wondering what to wear, buying clothes that you don’t like or that don’t work with what you have, and stress because you don’t like or know what your options are.
Once that is complete you should have a good handle on what your personal style is and a comfort level that you know what you have in your closet fits and aligns with your personal taste.
This is the fun stuff- creating outfits!
Yes, I want you to actually create your “in between” wardrobe.
